BioKubber Coffee Logs
The Eco-Friendly Firewood Alternative
‘BioKubber’ Coffee Logs – an Eco Alternative to Firewood – are made from waste coffee grinds – promoted to a Scandinavian marketplace by NorseBio based in Norway.
THE CHALLENGE
Before remote working became the everyday thing it is today, Design by Ant was invited to do just that, we worked with NorseBio based in Norway on a pitch to create brand names and packaging ideas for their new BioKubber Coffee Logs.
The success of our approach and variety of ideas would eventually lead Design by Ant to go on and develop the brand and create the final packaging artwork to complete this interesting project.

THE SOLUTION
Design by Ant worked on a pitch to NorseBio to suggest several name and logo options for a unique brand name for the BioKubber packs. A close runner was our preferred option ‘Coffire’ – a simple merger of the words ‘Coffee’ and ‘Fire’.
Although NorseBio eventually opted for a brand name suggested by another company – NorseBio was so pleased with the approach and process shown by Design by Ant during the pitch that we were awarded the opportunity to develop the main packaging look and feel for their first product launch – the BioKubber Coffee Logs.
Using instantly recognisable coffee bean images and a series of flame illustrations that appear across all these sections we created a cohesive and stylised solution – the packaging development included an illustrated ‘How to ignite’ series together with the ‘Compatible Appliance’ icons to show what the BioKubber product works on.
We also worked closely with the printers to ensure the final design would work with the proposed 3-colour print solution.
